Other than this blog I haven’t been able to do a lot of writing lately. I remember a time when I would sit down on a Saturday and write the entire weekend away. (I actually finished a complete 119 page screenplay once doing this). But lately I just haven’t had it in me. My ideas are there, as my fiancée said to me the other day. I just don’t have the umph to do it. Well last weekend and this weekend have been good writing days. I wrote the first 13 pages of my screenplay last weekend (a far cry from my 119 pages that one miracle weekend) but looking back at them over the week (generally a no-no) I wasn’t happy with them.
What do you do when this happens? What gets the cobwebs out and gets you back in the writing saddle? I’d like to know because I can use some inspiration about now. I have a number of different ideas in my head right now but there is one that I like. I read a piece of advice some time ago that said “Write the screenplay for the movie you want to go see.” This is great advice because there are not enough good live-action fantasy movies out there. The Hobbit (in three parts) is coming soon and the Game of Thrones HBO show is on it’s season break. While films such as Brave and How to Train Your Dragon are great stories. I’m looking for a good live action fantasy film. Why can’t I be the one to write it? Why can’t I be the one to option it?
I guess I’ll sit and get some writing done this weekend. I’ll let you know how it goes.
