November is over and I will say that NaNoWriMo didn’t go so well for me. I only wrote 20,562 words. Not even half of the 50,000 word target. I didn’t write every day and that was my primary reason for falling short of the goal. But now it’s December 2nd, well almost the 3rd, and it’s time to move on. Last year about this time I wrote a post about my 2014 goals so I would look back at 2015 as I did a year ago.
- Read 12 books in 2015 : I originally wanted to read 12 books and then I increased that to 15 books.
Book 1 – Star Wars: A New DawnBook 2 – The Modigliani ScandalBook 3 – EragonBook 4 – Star Wars: Heir to the JediBook 5 – Code to ZeroBook 6 – MistbornBook 7 – The Concubine’s ChildrenBook 8 – Star Wars: Lords of the SithBook 9 – EldestBook 10 – The Well of AscensionBook 11 – BrisingrBook 12 – The Hero of AgesBook 13 – Star Wars: Dark DiscipleBook 14 – Star Wars: Smuggler’s RunBook 15 – A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
Book16 – The Alloy of Law
- Type the Original Stroversai Novel into Scrivener
- Write the Workshop Book
There were other, more personl, goals on the list. Ten different goals listed and only three goals were not met. Two of the three unmet goals were the two screenplay goals. The first, Read 12 Screenplays, was one that I started but did not complete as my focus was on my novel. The second missed goal was to write one new screenplay.
So for 2016, I’ve have started to build new goals. Again, reading 16 books in on the list and this year I’m going to focus specifically of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series of 14 books. Hopefully I will be able to squeeze in two more novels, one of which is the prequel, New Spring. As for the 16th book (and beyond) I’ll have to see what’s available when I get there.
As of today, I haven’t decided on a writing goal for next year. One thing I want to do more of is write on this blog. Maybe a new short story or two to explore the characters of my novel. Maybe I’ll build a new screenplay on the blog itself. We will see.
I’m going to try to write at least one more blog posts before the end of the year. I’m working on a Writer’s Gift Guide article which I will post here when it’s ready.
Enjoy your December,
